sample space
The set of all possible outcomes for an experiment. Example: In tossing a number cube, the sample space, S, is S= {1,2,3,4,5,6}.
scalene triangle
A triangle with sides of different length and three different interior angles.
sector
The part of a circle bounded by two radii and the included arc.
segment
The part of a circle bounded by a chord and an arc.
semi-circle
Half of a circle (the area bounded by a diameter and an arc).
sequence
A pattern that follows a rule or order.

A fraction with the numerator less than the denominator
simplify
To change to simpler terms (e.g., 45/60 to 3/4).
sine
In a right triangle, the length of a side opposite an angle divided by the length of the hypotenuse of the triangle.

sphere

surface area

A shape is symmetrical if it is identical on either side of a line dividing it into two parts.
