tally
A record of items using vertical and oblique lines to represent each item.

tangent of a circle or curve
A straight line which touches a circle or curve at one point.

Part of a sum in an algebraic expression; each of two quantities in a fraction.

terminating decimal
A fraction whose decimal representation contains a finite number of digits.

tessellating shapes
Shapes which cover an area with no gaps between them (e.g., squares).

tessellation
When a set of one or more shapes can cover a plane with no overlapping and no gaps. Tiles or bricks are said to tessellate.

tetrahedron
A polyhedron with four faces (e.g., triangular pyramid).

tetromino
A plane shape made of four congruent squares connected to each other by at least one common side.

theorem
A mathematical result which has been proven, as in the Pythagorean theorem.

A shape with length, width and height.

The result when two or more numbers are added.

trajectory
The path that a body makes as it moves through space.

transitive property
The property that states that if a = b, and b = c, then a = c.

transversal
A straight line crossing two or more lines.

trapezium
A quadrilateral plane figure of which no two sides are parallel.

trapezoid
A quadrilateral plane figure in which only one pair of opposite sides is parallel.

traversable
A network is traversable if all paths can be traced over without going over the same path twice.

triangle
A polygon with three sides.

triangle number
A number whose units can be arranged into a triangle (e.g., 6).

truncate
To cut the top off a solid shape. A lampshade is a truncated cone.

twin primes
Prime numbers separated by a composite number (e.g., 3, 4, 5.)
