2. Thursday, February 4th, Noon:Angela Gardiner and Ana Stephens present The Impact of Algebra in the Elementary Math Curriculum
LEAP - Learning through an Early Algebra Progression is a new program developed by TERC, U of WI, Madison and U of TX at Austin. Presented by two of the program’s co-authors, learn why early algebra is so important, what it looks like in the elementary classroom and how the LEAP program can enhance your teaching and impact student achievement.
3. Friday, February 5th, Noon: Sue Looney and Matt Christiansen present Teaching with Manipulatives: Building Understanding of Addition Facts
In this session, Sue Looney and Matt Christiansen will share a continuum for teaching addition facts for understanding with three basic tools. The session includes a live demo of how to use manipulatives to support learning and a student video. There will also be a preview of online Teaching with Manipulatives PD and a free downloadable activity.
